As the holiday season approaches, it’s important to recognize the vital role food pantries play in our community. While this time of year is often filled with abundance and celebration, many individuals and families continue to face food insecurity. Food pantries bridge the gap between hunger and hope all year long, and the demand for assistance often rises during the holidays. Families already managing limited resources may find it even harder to provide meals for their loved ones. Food pantries work tirelessly to meet this increased need, ensuring that no one goes hungry during the holiday season—or at any time of year.

This year, we are partnering with Providence Lutheran Church (PLC) to support their well-established food pantry, which operates monthly and serves our local community. We invite you to join this effort by participating in the reverse Advent calendar included in Church Life.

Traditionally, Advent calendars count down the days leading up to Christmas, beginning on December 1 and continuing through Christmas Eve. Most include small doors that open to reveal a picture or small gift. A reverse Advent calendar flips this tradition: instead of receiving a gift each day, participants donate an item each day. Please use the reverse Advent calendar provided by PLC to help replenish the most-needed items in the pantry.

At the end of Advent, we will collect all donations at our church and deliver them to Providence Lutheran Church. Feel free to bring your box of items to the church anytime between Dec. 24th and Jan. 5th. Thank you in advance for your generous support of this project.
