Murals - Dedicated June 2000
We invite everyone to view the three murals depicting
scenes from the life of Christ related to children which were finished in
June of 2000. The wall length murals can be found in the children's
classrooms in the educational wing of the building.
The murals are the creation of Carol Sicha, a well-known
Toledo artist who has done extensive mural work for the pediatric floor of
the Toledo Hospital, many Toledo residences and other hospitals.
This is only her second commission and by far the most extensive work for
any religious institution. Carol Sicha was assisted in this project
by two other Toledo artists: Dawn Rosenberger and Kim Leganik.
The three scenes depicted in the murals are:
Jesus in the Temple (Luke
2:41-52)
The mural shows Jesus as a twelve year old boy sitting in the Temple in
Jerusalem listening and talking with the temple priests. Jesus'
parents are in the background, having returned to the Temple, thinking
their son was lost.

Jesus Blessing the Children
(Matthew 19:13-14)
The passage of Scripture is read at our Infant Dedication services and
depicts Jesus sitting, surrounded by children from all cultures and
races. It reminds us of His words, "Let the children come to
Me..."

The Feeding of the Five
Thousand (John 6:1-14)
It was the gift of a young boy's five loaves and two fish that enabled
Jesus to feed the five thousand. This scene is depicted with the boy
offering his gift to Jesus.

Our hope is that these scenes from the life of Jesus
will instill positive images of Jesus' love for all the children who will
be taught in these rooms.
