Living Nativity
2002 Report
Sunday, December 22, 2002
6:00 to 8:00 PM
What a great year! Yes, the winds
blew down some of our sets and we had to do some major
reconstruction of the manger scene but we ended up with a record
number of cars viewing this year's presentation. In two hours,
we had 237 vehicles drive through our scenes. At some points
during the evening, the traffic was backed up to Holland Perrysburg
as cars were lined up to see the presentation! We added a
new scene, "Sharing the Story" which brought the Christmas
Story to the present. We also had a wonderful opening meeting
with a devotional presented by Gigi Mawer. Mark Suffron
directed the scenes and Becky Spencer led the coordination of the
event. The Lord blessed us in so many ways!

Behind
the Scenes
Despite the rainy weather, we had
201 cars drive through. Several car loads even drove through twice! Channel 13 was here to film and did a report on their 11:00 News. Over 60 people participated in the Living Nativity as Cast, Scene Managers, Traffic Control, Childcare, & Food Coordinators. The Music, Drama, & Arts Committee did a great job in planning and coordination. Again, thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this a special highlight of our Christmas Celebration. The
Living Nativity is the culmination of many people and groups
contributing of their time and talent. In addition to
the cast of characters, there are those who have assembled
props and lights, designed and made costumes, the printed
programs, traffic control, publicity, the luminaries and those
who prepared refreshments for the participants. Thanks
to Mr. and Mrs. Kasper McCloskey for the donation of the food
trays for the cast. We
express our gratitude to the Music, Arts and Drama Board of
First Baptist and to Betty Snyder for their sponsorship and
participation. As
always - thanks to the entire congregation who make this event
possible! |

Living
Nativity 2000
December 17, 2000 -
The temperature held at 5° the entire evening with wind gusts
of up to 40 miles per hour. The wind chill hovered
around -38° with blowing a drifting snow. It was so
cold, we moved two scenes inside, behind the glass so as to
keep our performers warm! This still meant that our
traffic coordinators had to stay outside in the freezing
temperatures. Even with the bad driving conditions and
frigid weather, we had fifty-one cars drive through to see our
presentation. Here are pictures of some of our devoted
performers as they forsook an evening with family (and warmth)
to participate in our Living Nativity 2000: |
