Missions & Outreach
We have a very active Missions and Outreach program at First Baptist. For specific information on Outreach opportunities and events, CLICK HERE. For our Missions program, you will find a variety of information HERE.
Join the Battery Brigade!
We continue to collect 9-volt batteries to distribute to homes in the surrounding neighborhoods so at least one smoke detector will have a fresh battery when the time changes in the fall. Please help us with either your battery or financial support. Batteries can be left in the “Battery Brigade Box” in the hall in the Christian Ed. wing.
A Special Thank You from Outreach
Your Outreach Team wishes to thank everyone who made the Outreach “Event-full” Sunday on April 25 a success. The silent auction, freewill offering dinner and concert by Jeff and Jeni Gerber brought in $668 to be used for future Outreach events. Please mark your calendars for the evening of Sunday, November 14 for a holiday cooking demonstration by Christian television personality Dawn Hall.
Missions You Can Do RIGHT NOW!
You make a difference! You truly do! Don’t forget to save those cancelled stamps from all the Christmas cards and other mail for the Heifer Project. This Thrift Shop project makes possible the purchase of animals for third world countries, thus providing income to individuals that might otherwise have no means of support. A cow, goat, water buffalo, ducks, chickens, to name a few become a family enterprise. For no monetary contribution, you can make a difference in the lives of the very poor.

First Baptist Welcomes Missionary
Firs
t Baptist was excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Stan Slade to our Worship and Sunday School on August 9. Rev. Slade presented a "Mission Moment" during our worship service at 9:30 AM and then a full presentation during Sunday School at 10:45 AM for all adults. Rev. Slade is a global consultant for theological education. His presentation included video from his work around the world and a discussion of the new roles of missionaries in our changing world. Rev. Slade previously served as a visiting professor for leadership training ministries throughout Iberoamerica and now serves as a visiting professor and consultant globally. In this role Rev. Slade joins American Baptist missionaries and partners around the world to strengthen their work of preparing church leaders, specifically in theological formation and reflection, both formal and informal.
Stan’s passion is to help others encounter the transforming message of Scripture through inductive Bible study. His gifts and expertise have been developed over many years of study and ministry. He now makes them available to national partners and missionaries who need the help to strengthen existing ministries.
Before this new role, Stan was on the Valley Forge staff helping with planning and research and before that, he and his wife, Cathy, served as missionaries in El Salvador. They were commissioned in 1983.
