Pastor's Perspective - September 2010

By the Rev. Daniel W. Bellavia

As many of you know, First Baptist Church has spent the summer months seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit to plot our direction for the future.  Through prayer, fellowship, study, and worship we have begun to discern a direction and a vision for the future.  This vision was delivered to the Church Council on Thursday, August 19th, and the three basic links of the plan were all unanimously approved.  Here is the report as presented to the Council…

Pastor's Perspective - August 2010

By the Rev. Daniel W. Bellavia

Reprinted here for your perusal is the October 2007 Pastor’s Perspective.  It was the second article that I wrote for First Baptist Church.  I think that you will enjoy this blast from the not so distant past, but more importantly this will remind you that the task has never changed for First Baptist Church.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish”
Proverbs 29: 18 (KJV)

Pastor's Perspective - June 2010

By the Rev. Daniel W. Bellavia

Three years ago First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo extended the call to me to become your eighteenth Senior Pastor.  Then, as now, I see my call as both an honor and a responsibility to God and His Church.  Over the past three years we have experienced some wonderful signs of growth as well as the return of some of the anxiety and conflict that has typified the past ten years.  This was to be expected.  No organization can experience turmoil and not bear the scars of said conflict.  The Church, however, unlike other organizations of human origin, is not afraid to show its scars.  We, of course, were born out of the scars of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The experience of Jesus allows us to hope and even expect that nothing is impossible apart from God.
