Attention Kroger Shoppers!
We urgently need your help so our First Baptist Youth can continue to earn funds through the Kroger Community Rewards. We reminded you earlier this year that you must re-enroll in Kroger Community Rewards in order to collect funds during the coming year. Unfortunately, only 37 percent of households enrolled in the program in 2009 have re-enrolled for 2010.
As you may recall, $5 million is at stake through this program, with Kroger awarding $1,250,000 every quarter and participating organizations able to earn up to $50,000 every three months. Since we are already approaching the third quarter for 2010, our youth may be missing out on funding that you could be earning.
Sermon Podcasts Online
First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo now has podcasts of every Sunday morning sermon available online. Sermons are posted by Wednesday of each week. CLICK HERE to see the list of the latest sermons and download one today! We would love to have someone who would like to establish a new ministry to download and burn compact discs for our shut-ins. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact Pastor Scott.
This is Ridiculous!
From one of the hottest nights of the summer to one of the coldest! Yes, it is true - Night Light on July 1, 2009 was a full thirty degrees colder than our previous Wednesday night on June 24. We went from over 94 degrees to less than 64 degrees in a week - from shorts to blankets (as displayed by Betsy Bellavia). We had a great night with a message from Pastor Scott titled "Samson and Michael Jackson" while Pastor Dan led our children in a devotion about Samuel. Our evening wouldn't be complete without great music from our Praise Band, street hockey for the youth and children and a cookout featuring "Grillmeister" Tom Logan who served up chicken and hot dogs. Night Light continues outside all summer long . . . don't miss out on the fun each Wednesday as we kick things off at 6:15 with a cookout potluck (bring a side dish to share) followed by our outdoor contemporary praise and worship service at 7 PM.
Night Light Begins Summer on a Hot and Muggy Night

The temperature broke above 94 degrees as we kicked off the first outdoor Night Light service of the 2009 summer on June 24. The heat index was estimated to be 105 degrees but that didn't deter us! The grills were fired up for a dinner of pork chops along with great side dishes contributed for the potluck. Following the meal, our children took to the stage to begin the Night Light service. Our Praise Band led us in several rousing choruses. During one song, the rays of the sun formed a halo around a cloud above us (click READ MORE below to view the entire article). Pastor Dan then brought the message. The children had a lesson on "Heaven and Hell" and then enjoyed a game of hockey (on pavement that could almost melt your shoes!). Night Light will continue outside throughout the summer (weather permitting).

Strawberry Fest 2009 an Uplifting Experience
2009 marked the first year of full participation in the annual Strawberry Fest in Holland Ohio for First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo. We featured a float in the 2008 event, but this year we took things up a level and became major sponsors. With this new level of commitment, we added a booth on the midway where we had a chance to mingle with the festival guests and share our testimonies and promote our church. Our booth featured a slide show of the last year's events at First Baptist, a "10 Questions" game to lead the conversation toward spirituality, flyers and information about our church, performances by our Praise Band and water for those who were thirsty (both physically and spiritually!).
Sunday featured the annual Strawberry Fest parade and we featured a float in the parade. Our Praise Band played on a red, white and blue decked out trailer. We wish to offer our tremendous gratitude to Thayer Ford (www.thayerford.com) for loaning us the use of their truck and trailer for the event.
FBC Group Attends Alive Fest 2009
First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo sent a group of 15 youth and adults to the annual Alive Fest in Canal Fulton, Ohio on June 20, 2009. This was the final year the event will be held in Canal Fulton as it moves to Atwood Lake Park in Sherrodsville, Ohio in 2010 (please see our Alive Fest page for details). The day started in a light drizzle as we parked in a VERY muddy field and struggled over muddy paths to our "base camp" for the day which was a large tarp in the main amphitheater area. We brought in plenty of food for us to snack on throughout the day plus changes of clothes, sunscreen and mosquito repellent. The temperatures hovered in the mid 80s throughout the day so we quickly made our way to the beach for some swimming and enjoying great music from the "Beach Stage" close by. Later, some of our group attended programs at other stages throughout the park including a "Snakes Alive" program where some were able to hold a 13 foot python! Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Britt Nicole, Everyday Sunday and many other groups performed throughout the afternoon.
Going Green - Caring for God's Earth
I’m too busy to recycle. It’s too much trouble. I don’t have room to store the stuff. I don’t know where to take the items. And what happens to the stuff I recycle? These are common objections to why people do not recycle; however, for every objection there is an easy solution.
