Women's Organization

The Women's Organization has had a vital role in the life of our Church for many decades.  Throughout the years, it has supported our local Church needs as well as American Baptist State and National projects.

Our annual Salad Bowl luncheon began in June of 1960 and was started so that we could fund the annual project of the American Baptist Women of Ohio.  Two years later a book review was added to this luncheon and was a part of it for many years.  In 1967, the luncheon was moved and is still held in May.  Our funding for the state project began as $150 and we currently contribute $400.  The project for 2001 was entitled "BIB" for Bathing India's Babies.

The first Fall Festival was held in 1956 and for many years we held an annual BAZAAR in October at the Southwyck Shopping Center.  The Women's Organization also sponsors the Women's Sunday Worship Service in January and many other events.  Our annual budget helps support fifteen local and national projects.

Every woman of the Church is a member of the Women's Organization and now your help is needed.  The purpose of the Women's Organization is to invite EVERY woman to participate in American Baptist Women's Ministries according to her needs, interests and gifts as led by the Spirit of God.

The Women's Organization contributes to the Love Gift and White Cross programs set by the National Women's Association.  You will learn more about these projects at our meetings.  Dues are charged and are needed to fund a state scholarship student, special interest missionaries, the National Endowment Fund, dues to the Toledo Baptist Women's Association and Church Women United, kitchen supplies, women's conference, programs and much more.

The work of God is done by many hands and when the hands are hands of love, that work is made easy.  A Japanese philosopher wrote these words, "God knows the secret plan of the things He will do for the world, using my hands."  God has put in our hands a talent, too, and He expects us to use it.  With your hands of love and your grateful hears, please join all the women of this Church as we work to serve God and one another.

Women's Organization News

The date of the first Women's Organization meeting of the year has been changed to the FIRST Saturday in October because of a conflict.  There will be a brunch at 9:30 AM followed by making blankets for the homeless.  There will be door prizes.  Women are encouraged to attend for fun and a worthwhile cause. Also, we will be returning to the morning brunch.  New booklets will be distributed with details.  Let’s make this next year a successful year!  Check out the Women's Organization page for more information on Women's Organization and our Women's Circles.

Women's Sunday Success!

Our Women’s Sunday service on April 18, 2010 was AWESOME!  Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who participated in making the service great.  Everything ran smoothly and our speaker, Ms. Gloria Blanco was amazing!  Gloria's message was on "The Pure in Heart Shall See God."  So many people made this service come together and we appreciate all you did.  First Baptist is truly blessed to have such remarkable women!!
