CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE
December 24
6:15 p.m. Pre-Service Concert
6:30 p.m. Candlelight Worship

Over the years our Christmas Eve Worship has become a tradition not only for our own church family, but many people in the community. The church is filled with people who on that night make their way to church to honor Christ, the New Born King.

As people gather, our instrumentalists and soloists welcome worshipers with the music of Christmas.  Many people come early for this short concert beginning just prior to the Candlelight Worship.

The worship service is in candlelight and features soloists and our chancel choir.

Nowhere is church and home, heaven and earth so wedded together as on Christmas Eve.

We look forward to greeting you on Christmas Eve and worshiping with you on this most Holy Night.

The service places the true meaning of Christmas in our hearts and sends us forth like the shepherds praising God for the gift of His Son.

Christmas Eve at First Baptist 2000

A packed sanctuary for Christmas Eve 2000

Because Christmas Eve fell on Sunday, There were two worship services, one in the morning and one in the evening, 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Both services were beautiful (see the pictures here). Again this year the Festival Brass played a mini concert as people gathered for the Christmas Eve Communion Service. You may have noticed that the church has a new Christmas Tree for the sanctuary (picture below). This was made possible through the Church Flower Fund and The Diaconate.

An important part of our Christmas Eve Service was the expanded space in the narthex. At last we have the room for people to gather and wish each other "Merry Christmas" without being bumped, pushed or pulled. It is a wonderful place to linger both before and after the service and enjoy the company of all pilgrims on that night.
